5 Baby Items to Simplify Your Life (Put these on your registry ASAP!)

Updated: Jun 14, 2021

Today I'm talking about 5 items that simplify life with a newborn (Added bonus: I’m still using most of them now with a toddler- so they have longevity!). Most of these items fly under the radar, so they’re probably not on very many baby registry essentials list. But, trust me, they make things so much more convenient and are totally worth looking into!

Whether you’re currently making your very first baby registry, trying to think of what might be helpful with a second baby, or already have your baby at home with you; I hope something on this list makes life with your little one a bit easier!

If you want more in-depth on why I love these 5 items or simply just don't feel like reading, watch the video version on my YouTube channel:

A wipe dispenser might seem a little exra, but a mom friend of mine recommended this one to me before I had my son, and I'm so glad she did!

The dispenser makes it so that you only need one hand (really, one finger) to open the wipes while you're changing a diaper. So convenient! They also make a travel-sized wipe dispenser for your diaper bag.

No matter what season your baby is born in, you need this! My son was about 4 months old when we moved to Texas for the summer (In case you didn't know, summers in Texas are HOT!).

I was a stay-at-home mom to an infant in a new town where I didn't know very many people, so we took a lot of walks for sanity reasons. I would have felt too guilty to go on as many walks as we did without this stroller fan.

Strollers can get pretty warm inside, but the fan totally helps cool your little baby down! Double thumbs up this oscillating clip-on fan!

Most baby registry lists will have some sort of automatic rocker (we used and liked this one from Fisher Price), but I think it is also really helpful to have a rocker or bouncer that you can easily take with you from room to room.

My son would sit in his portable rocker when I was taking a shower, doing my makeup, or making something in the kitchen. I chose the Infant-to-Toddler Rocker because I loved that I could use the rocker for multiple seasons of my baby's life (not just for the short amount of time he was an infant).

We used it all the time before he was able to sit up on his own, and now that he's a toddler, it converts to a little toddler chair, and he loves to sit in it in his playroom.

This diaper clutch has been a definite must in my diaper bag since day one. It holds diapers, wipes, and has a detachable changing pad. If I'm out at a restaurant, it's a lot easier to just take out the diaper clutch and bring that into the restroom, instead of my entire diaper bag. It also means that everything is always in one place.

I chose this particular clutch because the fabric is very easy to wipe down and disinfect, and the wipe holder is easily accessible (which I've found is not usually the case- most other diaper clutches house the wipes in a closed pouch that makes them more difficult to get to when you're in the middle of a changing. Why???).

Anyway, I highly recommend getting a diaper clutch/ portable changing pad, if you don't already have one.

I've probably mentioned this a thousand times, but I LOVE when one item can serve multiple purposes! Babies need so much stuff, thata it's nice when you're able to cut that amount down a bit with a product that does double duty.

I thought that this cover from Covered Goods was really easy to use as a nursing cover, and it was also a great carseat cover. It took up very little space in my diaper bag and could also be used as a shopping cart seat cover and be worn as a scarf (for extra convenience).

I used the Covered Goods nursing cover because I really liked their pattern choices, but they also have some great options on Amazon or Target like this one.

What baby items would you recommend to a new or second time mom that have made your life easier? Make sure you write them in the comments below- I'd love to hear about them!
