A Letter a Week | Introduce Your Toddler to the Alphabet

Updated: Aug 9, 2021

As a classroom teacher in another life, I sort of miss the structure and lesson plans of traditional school. My 2-year-old (almost 2 and a half) is growing and learning and getting more curious about reading and books, so I've decided to start teaching him the alphabet!

We're going to be working on a letter a week, and each letter will have a word (theme) to go with it. For example, B week will be "B is for Blueberries," and we'll do all sorts of blueberry-related activities to help reinforce the letter sound and provide lots of opportunities to see the letter "B" and hear the sound it makes.

I'm excited to take you along on this journey with us! Each week I'll post my "lesson plan" for the letter and theme of the week along with any relevant resources, links, and theme books we're reading. My goal is to do one theme-related activity Monday through Friday.

Small note: These activities are geared towards older toddlers and preschoolers.

Happy learning!
